Museum of Calculus Instruments

Stampa

The museum of Calculus Instruments, located in the area of the Old slaughterhouses, offers to the visitors a unique Italian collection. It ranges from the scientific instruments used in Physics in the XVIII century to the machines for personal calculation, through the big calculators of the 1950S and 1970s. Among the components that compose the base of the concept “calculus”, logic embodies a principle role. The education of logic is a knowledge that is possible to learn anytime, any age and it is preparatory for the development of scientific attitudes. The calculus in sense of computation has been changed over the centuries, that’s why it needs its historization. It is offered through reconnaissance of many machines displayed in the museum and thanks to special workshops that introduce the modern concepts of “digitalization”.
